Catching up!

It’s been a bit of a longer period since my last post- been a busy couple of weeks!

One Tuesday I led a team from TWAM where I work in going Radio Suffolk Tuesday night takeover. It went really well and we’ve already seen some response . It’s helping with that what I Think it so important is in getting the Charities name known as that will help us in getting more tools, volunteers and financial support. God was evident in the show. I’d had a bad cough and I went in armed with cough sweets and mints but praise God the cough hardly troubled me despite it being a hot studio. Also despite technical problems with their phones we got most of our phone links ok including Zambia. A highlight though was Jon moving Cowdenbeath into Wales!

Our big holiday is coming ever closer….less than two weeks now. We’ve sorted out a lift to the airport and know the schedule for while we are there. We are so looking forward to it. The journey and the time difference is going to be a new experience as it’s longer than any of us have done before but it’s going to be great to meet family and see some new sights and have new experience. The next week or so we have last minute bits to sort, some currency to get and so on but it is going to be a holiday of a lifetime!

A Powerful Sunday Morning

Sometimes you can go to church and find its just an OK sort if service. I know that doesn’t sound very spiritual but thats reality. Other weeks though are ‘wow weeks. This morning was one of those..

We started with a great time of worship then a great preach by Tomi from 1 Corinthians about the resurrection, the core of our faith but how often particularly when we share our faith do we focus on the cross and Jesus dying for our sins but ignore the core fact that he rose again 3 days later. This is the big truth. People try to poo poo or disbelieve the resurrection but when it comes down to it the facts are there. There are historical facts and all of the apostles died for their faith. Would they have done that if there wasn’t a strong reason to do so?

The service finished with a baptism. A guy called gary who by all accounts has had a tough life. He’s recently been diagnosed though with terminal cancer and had possibly a couple of months to live but he was making a public profession of his faith. It was emotive to say the least. His family were crying and the baptism was followed by a rousing rendition of the modern version of amazing grace

What a morning and something to take into the week…

Setbacks are Set ups !

How often have you thought you are getting somewhere only for something to go awry of for a major hiccup or problem to occur and you sit there thinking ‘why God’?

It’s so easy in life to always think in the negative but actually these are times when God is preparing us because he is going to do great things for and with us or as Joel Osteen says setbacks are setups….

God is setting us up for what he is going to do but he wants us to be able to see clearly that it’s him who is doing it or indeed for others to see that too. The story of Gideon is a great example of this when God constantly told Gideon that his army was too large and it ended up Gideons 300 men against 100,000 men but Gideon won and it was clear to all that could see that this was God’s doing .

When the odds seen against you as they were for Gideon it’s so God can prepare you for something great he is going to do in your life. I know over the past couple of years I’ve often thought that why has this or that happened when things have been tough as they have on several occasions and it’s seemed a constant flow but I’m trying to remain rooted to the fact God has a plan and is going to use us but it will be at a time when he is ready and not when we expect it…
